Understand the treatment

What is All-on-6?

All-on-6 follows the same full-arch principle as All-on-4 — a complete fixed bridge carried by implants — but distributes the load across six implants instead of four. The two additional implants shorten the unsupported spans of the bridge and share chewing forces more widely across the jaw.

The trade-off is straightforward: six implants require more available bone and two more surgical sites, in exchange for greater redundancy and load distribution. Where a patient has generous bone volume and a strong bite, All-on-6 is often the more robust long-term engineering. Where bone is limited, forcing six implants in is worse than placing four well — which is why this is an imaging decision, not a preference.

Staged like All-on-4

The treatment rhythm is identical to All-on-4: surgery and, where stability allows, a fixed temporary bridge at the first visit; osseointegration over 3–6 months at home; then the definitive prosthesis — typically hybrid zirconium — fitted at a second visit with your approval on shade, shape and bite.

Candidacy confirmed from your photos and X-rays, free

Is this you?

Is All-on-6 right for you?

Typically suitable if you…

  • Need a full-arch restoration and have good bone volume
  • Have a strong bite, bruxism history or high functional demands
  • Want maximum redundancy — six supports rather than four
  • Are in good general health and can heal normally
May need a different plan if you…4
  • Have limited bone — All-on-4 with angled implants may be the honest recommendation
  • Have untreated gum disease or active infection
  • Smoke heavily or have uncontrolled diabetes — risks must be discussed frankly
  • Would need extensive grafting to host six implants — cost and time may outweigh the benefit

Candidacy is always confirmed by the dental team through a review of your photos and X-rays — this list is general guidance, not a diagnosis.

Gains and trade-offs

Benefits and honest limitations

Benefits

  • Six supports spread chewing forces more evenly across the arch
  • Shorter bridge spans — less flex, less stress per implant
  • Greater redundancy if a single implant ever struggles
  • Fixed, palate-free teeth with near-natural chewing power

Limitations

  1. Needs more bone volume than All-on-4 — not everyone qualifies
  2. Two more implants: more surgery and higher cost per arch
  3. Still a staged treatment — final prosthesis comes at a second visit
  4. Same non-negotiables: hygiene, maintenance, and honest risk factors

How your All-on-6 quote works

Your itemised written quote follows the panoramic X-ray review, and includes the All-on-4 alternative where both are clinically viable, so you can compare honestly.

Every quote is personal: it is prepared only after a clinical review of your photos and X-rays, and that written plan is the binding one.

  1. Send your photos and X-ray

A few smile photos and, if you have one, a panoramic X-ray. It takes minutes and costs nothing.

  2. Receive your written plan

The dental team maps every tooth, the materials and the visits, then sends a fixed written quote, usually within 24 hours.

  3. Nothing changes without your OK

Your plan is the reference for every visit. Any change is explained and agreed with you first, in writing.

Recovery and risks

Recovery and risks

Recovery mirrors All-on-4: swelling and bruising in the first days, a soft diet during early healing, then months of uneventful integration under the temporary bridge. The risk profile is also shared — low but real implant failure rates, raised meaningfully by smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and poor hygiene, plus the standard surgical risks of infection and temporary numbness. Six implants add sites but also add redundancy; your dentist will explain what the numbers mean for your specific case.

Questions

All-on-6 — frequently asked questions

Still unsure?

Ask a coordinator in your language. Send a photo if it helps: a person answers, usually within 24 hours.

Is All-on-6 stronger than All-on-4?

It distributes load across more supports and shortens bridge spans, which is mechanically favourable — when the bone supports six well-placed implants. Four well-placed implants beat six compromised ones every time, which is why imaging decides.

Do I need a bone graft for All-on-6?

Sometimes. Six implants need more bone real estate than four. If grafting would be extensive, we will usually recommend All-on-4 instead and explain why — the goal is your best outcome, not the larger invoice.

How many visits does it take?

Two: surgery with a temporary bridge, then the final prosthesis after 3–6 months of healing. Each visit is typically under a week in Tirana.

Can I get All-on-6 on the top and All-on-4 on the bottom?

Yes — mixed configurations are common, because upper and lower jaws offer different bone. Each arch is planned on its own merits.

What is the final bridge made of?

Typically a hybrid zirconium prosthesis — a strong, metal-free construction with ceramic aesthetics. Material options and their prices are in your written plan.

What maintenance does it need?

Daily cleaning under the bridge with interdental brushes or a water flosser, plus scheduled professional check-ups. We demonstrate everything before you leave and give it to you in writing.
